Hope everyone saw the USA Today story, "Steal This Book? Don't Bother" http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/cnet/2007-07-23-library-resources_N.htm?csp=34
As many of you know, my pet cause is increasing awareness nationwide of library online services. One approach I've been taking lately is adding comments to parenting blogs and web portals. Whenever I see an article on homework help services, or online encyclopedias, or test prep for college, I add a "try your public library's website!" comment. Some of the places I've added comments: GreatSchools.net Ivillage DisneyFamily.com InterfaithFamily.com (I mentioned that the Encycopledia Judaica, the Catholic Encyclopedia and the Encyclopedia of Islam were all online) It would be great to see more of these back to school articles mention library resources. The few that do inevitably mention only physical books and the library as a study space, not the online resources.

I am happy to report that a little over a month ago and after years of trying, CNET/News.com finally ran a substantial story about library resources.
http://news.com.com/2100-1038_3-6197993.html I was an honor to have been quoted along side Leslie Burger. What's even more exciting is that a sidebar article was published that talks about 24x7 reference. http://news.com.com/2100-1038_3-6197920.html
