A few people have asked how to sign up for "Slam the Boards!" In short, there is no sign up. This is an informal thing. You can just choose your service, create your account there and then just start answering. Practice a bit before 9/10, do a bunch on 9/10, and then keep doing them at whatever pace works for you after 9/10. That's it. If it goes well, maybe we'll do it again sometime.
Of course, you can click on the Join This Wiki button and be a more visible member of the Slam community. You can also add your name to the list of participating librarians, put up some links to "exemplary answers," but none of this is necessary (although I'd love to see more stuff there!).
